Steam for Mac is Coming… Tomorrow!

May 11, 2010

That’s right ladies and gents, the day we’ve all been waiting for. Valve is releasing the Mac version of Steam tomorrow, along with launch titles such as Portal and Torchlight. Every Wednesday after that, new games will be released for Mac. Portal 2 will be the first time Valve releases a game for PC, Mac, and XBox 360 simultaneously. After that, every game Valve develops will launch on these three platforms at the same time, so Mac gamers will be playing a new Valve game on the same day that PC gamers do!

Friends, this action by Valve will single-handedly overturn the misconception that “Macs don’t play games.” PC gamers win: they can switch to Mac. Mac gamers win: we get more games. Linux users lose. Everybody wins!

MICROSOFT OMFG WTF?!?!

October 28, 2009

For those of you who don’t know, the Microsoft Xbox 360 has the ability to store any files (such as profiles or saved games) on a removable memory card that can then be taken to a different Xbox. Pretty nifty, except Microsoft only makes 512 MB cards, which is about as capable of holding data on it as a peanut shell is of holding the Encyclopedia Britannica. Not too useful.

Microsoft lost to this thing.

So thank God that Datel makes a memory card that holds 2 or 4 GB of data, and can be upgraded via microSD card to hold up to 16 GB! Once again, a third party saves Microsoft’s ass.

But it seems Microsoft isn’t too happy that people are buying a competing product. Instead of improving their own offering, what is Microsoft’s solution? To eliminate the competition by making all “unauthorized” memory cards cease to operate.

So now I have a $30 piece of plastic that can’t do shit. At least I can reformat the microSD card and use it in my phone.

Microsoft: FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MOTHER TOO. I FUCKING HATE YOUR GODDAMN FACE YOU MOTHERFUCKER.

Critics: Paid to Not Know Anything

March 8, 2009

IGN’s review of Tom Clancy’s HAWX came out, and guess what? They gave it a 6.7 – Passable. It just goes to show… wait, WHAT???

Tom Clancy's HAWX is a visually stunning masterpiece.

Tom Clancy's HAWX is a visually stunning masterpiece.

That’s right, a 6.7! Once again proving that critics are paid to not know anything. So here’s a breakdown of the idiocy:

7.5 Presentation
The look does a good job of staying consistent with other Tom Clancy games, and the unlock system and stats at the end of a multiplayer game are definitely cool. (Well said)
7.0 Graphics
A general lack of detail hurts, as does the lack of speed, but explosions look cool. Seeing American landmarks from 30,000 feet never gets old. (Lack of detail? Lack of speed? Wtf game were you playing?)
7.5 Sound
Explosions have a good thump if you’re close enough, as does as shattering the sound barrier. Music could be better and voiceovers are plain boring. (Music? Voiceovers? Why do these matter? SHOOT DOWN ZE PLANES!!!)
6.5 Gameplay
Uninspired mission design and aerial combat that’s arcadey to a fault don’t help. Co-op is fun and multiplayer is too until the one mode gets stale. (Excuse me, how exactly do you “inspire” mission design in a combat flight sim?)
7.0 Lasting Appeal
The co-op is fun, but the lacking multiplayer is a bummer. Experience point, challenge system, stats, and unlocks help out keeping things as fresh as possible. (Not sure what you mean about the multiplayer…)

Make Money and Get Free Stuff

March 2, 2009

This really is pretty cool. Hopefully you have been familiar enough with my site up until now to know that I’m not BS’ing here. I found an awesome site that will let you make money and get free gaming/computer stuff at the same time in exchange for mindless clicking. Here’s how it works:

  1. Advertisers make ads with forms to fill out.
  2. Filling out the forms gives the referrer money.
  3. This site refers you to the ads.
  4. They get money.
  5. They buy you free stuff with it.

The awesome thing is this: the site knows that the advertisers are all scumbags, so they give you tips on filling out the forms. If you get a form filler you can fill out about 30 forms per hour or so. Each one gets you a certain number of points, which you then use to get games, consoles, computer equipment, cell phones, and more.

On top of all that, you also can get money, and here’s how: you get a referral link that you can give to your friends, and if they sign up, you automatically get 20% of whatever they get each time they fill out an offer, but in actual cash. It doesn’t subtract from what they get (they won’t even know it is happening), it just means you get free cash automatically. Get some really active friends on there and you can get tons of $$$!

Anyway, it is a good idea to use a referral link to sign up, because then people can benefit even more from this, and hopefully someone will return the favor and use your link when they sign up. With that in mind, take a look at the site and if you decide that getting free stuff isn’t so bad then totally sign up.

P.S. I will leave comments unmoderated on this post so you can all see the feedback (that way you know I’m not scamming you or anything).

MEGAPOST 5000!!!11

March 1, 2009

Alright, I am tired today so I am posting a bunch of crap all at once. Mooch Report will be coming up right after this.

ThinkGeek has a sweet little system that lets you play NES and SNES games for only $50. As you can imagine they are totally sold out, so the soonest you can get it using backorder would me on the 9th. You can even plug in your old controllers, although it comes with two controllers for futuristic multiplayer action!

Retro d00d!

Also, ThinkGeek just put their Personal Area Network T-Shirt on sale for $20. Basically it lets you wire your mp3 player, cell phone, or other digitalia into a t-shirt for epic cord management. It even makes you look buff while wearing it, and hides the wires while simultaneously keeping them off your skin.

There's even a mini version for your dog! Just kidding. But you can control devices through the fabric.

In other news, I broke 2000 gamerpoints on my 360 the other day. I know, I know, that’s nothing. You uberfied gamers (aka “people with no lives who live in their mother’s basement”) have 10 times that. I get laid, so I win.

Preemptive Strike: I am about to get 500 comments from Xbox 360 point-whores claiming to have lives, but still having more points than me. To them I say: screw you and screw your mother too.

P.S. If you want to track my gamerscore or see what my 360 is up to, you can do that using the little feed ticker on the bottom of my sidebar. Clicking on my gamercard will show you my progress in any game I’ve played, and the feedticker actually goes to a blog that my 360 writes. He really gets in my head sometimes, it’s weird.
